Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 May 2026. This is a plain-English summary that accompanies our formal policy. We are working with a UK privacy lawyer to finalise the formal document.

Who we are

Mundi is a UK schools discovery product operated at mundi.education. Our purpose is to help parents find a school that fits, and to make UK education more transparent. We are in the process of registering as a data controller with the Information Commissioner's Office.

Where our information comes from

All information shown on Mundi comes from public sources:

The Department for Education's Get Information about Schools service (GIAS).
Ofsted inspection reports published by the regulator.
Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) reports.
Each school's own publicly available website.

We do not receive data from parents, pupils, or third-party marketers.

Photos and videos

Where photos appear, they are loaded directly from the school's own server (we do not store copies). Where videos appear, they are embedded from YouTube and play through YouTube's standard player. If a school removes a photo or video from its source, it disappears from Mundi automatically. We do not display photos that contain identifiable individuals; our render filter limits photos to building exteriors and landscapes.

Personal data we may display

Some information published by schools includes the name of their headteacher and a written welcome message. These are published by the schools themselves on their public-facing websites. We display them to help parents make informed choices. Lawful basis: legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).

Schools: how to request changes or removal

If you represent a school and would like us to amend or remove your listing, email removal@mundi.education. We acknowledge within 48 hours and action within 7 days.

Parents and individuals

If you believe Mundi is displaying personal data about you or your child that you would like removed, email removal@mundi.education with the URL of the page concerned. Children's data is special category data under UK GDPR; we treat such requests with priority.

Cookies and analytics

Mundi does not set its own tracking cookies. We use Vercel for hosting and Mapbox for the map; both may set technical cookies required for those services to operate.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to processing carried out under legitimate interests. Email removal@mundi.education to exercise any of these rights. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
